One Big Walk for Learning Disability Week
Make Every Moment Count: Take on Royal Mencap Society and Heart of England Mencap One Big Walk this Learning Disability Week
Organise or join Royal Mencap Society and Heart of England’s joint One Big Walk during Learning Disability Week between 15th-21st June. The One Big Walk challenge, encourages people across the country to walk, wheel, or run to help raise awareness and funds for the 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability.
Whether you take part alone or with friends, family or colleagues, the money you raise will be jointly split between Royal Mencap Society and Heart of England Mencap.
People with a learning disability still face huge and unacceptable inequalities. Many experience social isolation, and shockingly, die nearly 20 years younger than the general population. Money raised through One Big Walk will support both charities to tackle stigma and build a fairer, more inclusive society.
How can people get involved?
We have organised walks throughout the week you can get involved with based either in Stratford or Warwick:
Monday - 1.5 miles in St Nicholas Park, Warwick. Starting at 11am from the Sea Scouts centre.
Tuesday - 1.5 miles in Stratfords Nature Reserve. Starting at 1pm from the Leisure Centre carpark.
Wednesday - 1.5 miles along Stratfords Greenway. Starting at 11am the Greenway car park.
Thursday - 1.5 miles on the Recreation Ground, Stratford. Starting at 11am from the Park Run pavilion.
