Round the world we go!

We’re participating in the Mencap Round The World Challenge – a participation programme all about turning hours of fun sports and physical activities into a round the world adventure!

In partnership with Sport England and The National Lottery, the programme aims to support people with a learning disability to get out and get active in a way that is flexible, fun and empowering.

And there's been plenty of activity at Pathway, our Community Day Service, as Programme Manager Kate Buttrick says:

"Thanks to the Round the World Challenge, we have been able to fund some new activities which our customers absolutely love.  We have Team Agility Exercises on a Monday, a Swimming Club on a Friday and then Line Dancing in the afternoon!

"It's great to see the whole group taking part in an activity.  We make sure we adapt our sessions so that it caters for all ages and abilities and we try our best to get all involved no matter how big or small.  We have more exciting exercise sessions to come later on in the Spring which we'll keep you all informed about."

"I like to do exercises as it helps me with my balance.  I do exercises at home and at Pathway and enjoy doing all types of exercises," says Malcolm.

"We do lots of different exercises at Pathway, my favourites are swimming and dancing. Janine teaches us and she is very good, we have lots of fun doing it," says Julie.
